The Art of Education: DAIJ Technique

Writing and Talking about Art

The DAIJ technique of art criticism is what I teach students in my own classroom. I have found that it helps them to slow down and address different aspects/questions about the artwork before they make judgments about it. In this Art of Education article, they detail the method and include student handouts to help them with the process.

This simple handout guides students into writing and talking about art through a series of questions that they respond to.
